Next Steps

Well, our team has been hard at work problem solving how we can do church without gathering together on Sundays. Most churches are currently utilizing various Live Streaming services where congregation members can view the worship and teaching times. That seems great, but at The Sound we want to connect and interact. We don’t want to simply watch a screen. We want to engage with one another and allow for discussion time.

So we have come to two solutions. 

1. Zoom

Zoom is an app that is mainly used for conference calls, but our church can use it to live stream the worship and teaching time, and then breakout into small groups for discussion just like we do in our normal Sunday gatherings. Don’t worry, we’ll take care of the technicalities on our end. 

All you need to do is download Zoom on your mobile phone, tablet, laptop, or desktop. The Sound will send you a link to our Zoom meeting. Just follow the prompts and once you arrive in the meeting we’ll take it from there. 

We know that not everyone is tech savvy so, tomorrow Saturday, March 21st at 10am, we are going to have a Zoom meeting to help you iron out all of the kinks. So get the Zoom app downloaded on your computers or mobile devices and we’ll give this a trial run on Saturday at 10am before hosting our first online service on Sunday.

2. A New Website

We’ve also completely rebuilt our website. It used to contain outdated information. Now we hope that you will use it on a daily basis to keep connected to the church and the church family. We will be posting daily updates to keep you informed on what is happening in the world and how it affects our local church life. 

But the main focus will be on posts that we are calling the “Daily Sounding Board”. Each day we will create a new post in the Daily Sound Board section of the site that is solely for you to comment and connect with other people from The Sound. It doesn’t even have to be relevant to the current events at hand. Chat about the toilet paper crisis of 2020, let other people know what you are up to that day, talk over your latest Netflix binge. It’s really up to you. We just want to create a space for you to connect with other believers from our home church during this period of “social distancing”.

So head on over to https://thesound.me, create a login, and get commenting on a daily basis. 

The reality is, technologically we were not prepared for this, but we are doing everything we can to stay connected online until we can meet up together again in person. And we all know that technology never seems to behave anyway. So thank you for your patience, your understanding, and for giving us grace as we solve problems and tweak things as we go. We certainly need all the grace we can get.
